Wagner electric steering controls were developed to provide extremely reliable and compact main steering control systems at a reasonable cost. A wide range of controllers are available, such as wheel, lever and hand held units that can be arranged in any combination or number of steering stations. All steering inputs feed directly to the Steering Control Unit, a fully digitized electronic assembly. All control components are designed in a modular configuration to provide flexibility in layout. Wiring connections are simplified for easier installation with no need for special tools.

TX-5 Wheel Controller
The TX-5 wheel controller is an electric steering wheel operated helm unit. The wheel shaft turns four turns from hardover to hardover. A variable friction device allows regulating the “feel” on the steering wheel. The controller is normally supplied with one potentiometer to provide proportional steering commands to the steering control unit. A second potentiometer can be supplied to operate a second control unit for back-up, or it may be used to operate an indicator circuit to display the helm angle desired (helm order).

TS-3 Lever Controller
The TS-3 lever is a proportional follow-up controller normally mounted in a fixed position. The vessel can be steered simply by moving the lever. The lever angle corresponds to the rudder angle of the steering gear. The steering control unit ensures that the direction of the rudder angle is applied as requested by the TS-3. The lever controller is completely water proof.

RC-1 Remote Control
The RC-1 Remote Control steering unit is a portable, waterproof, handheld course control unit designed for marine service. The vessel can be steered simply by moving the controllable knob. Knob angle corresponds to the rudder angle of the steering gear. The switch housing is constructed using reinforced plastic and may be mounted at any convenient location. A tab is provided on the housing to hang the RC-1 from a hook or pin. The switch is supplied pre-wired with 15 meters of cable.

Motor Starters and Alarm Panels
Wagner Motor Starters and Alarm Panels are modular in design and available in a wide range of specifications suitable for any steering system configuration. The Alarm Panel features fail safe circuitry and provide status indication for control power, motor power available, and motor run, plus visual and acoustic alarms for control power failure, motor power failure, motor overload, phase failure, low oil level, filter failure plus two optional alarms. The Motor Starters feature automatic restart, provision for remote start/stop, and automatic transfer to backup power. All components are in splash proof enclosures and meet major marine classification society standards.
