The Shuyak is 57.9 feet LOA with a beam of 23 feet and a
draft of 10.5 feet. The vessel was designed by Jensen Maritime
Consultants of Seattle and built by Fred Wahl Marine Construction
in Reedsport, Oregon. Based in Kodiak, Alaska, the Shuyak
is equipped to longline for halibut and black cod, as well
as for crabbing and salmon tendering. The vessel is constructed
in steel with an aluminum pilot house. The Shuyak is powered
by a single diesel engine rated at 425 HP @ 1800 RPM driving
a 68 inch 4 blade stainless propeller through 6:1 reduction
gear.
The vessel is fitted with a WAGNER T10-45-BA1 single rudder steering
system consisting of one T10 actuator, DARBS valve, TA8 reservoir
with dual rate Uniblock #1, and an engine driven pump. A B3 helm
pump provides 8½ turns hard over to hard over on wheel
steering. Jog lever control and autopilot interface are provided
by the Uniblock #1 and engine driven pump with a rudder speed
of 8 seconds. |
