The Grande Caribe is 183 feet (56m) LOA with a beam of 39.8 feet (12.14m), a draft of 9 feet (2.74m) and has accommodation for 100 passengers and a crew of 19. Designed and built by Blount Industries Inc. in Warren, Rhode Island, the Grande Caribe is owned and operated by American Canadian Caribbean Line, Inc. Based in Warren, Rhode Island, the vessel will operate coastal cruises covering areas from Labrador, Canada, to areas of Central and South America, including the Amazon River.

The Grande Caribe is constructed in steel with an aluminum superstructure and incorporates a retract-able pilothouse. Powered by twin diesel engines developing 575bhp @ 1800 RPM turning two 4-blade 44" x 34" propellers, Grande Caribe has a service speed of 10 knots and a range of 2,500 miles.

The vessel is fitted with a WAGNER NB2 1050-40-BB1 twin rudder steering system consisting of two N80-300 cylinders, tillers and tie bar, DARBS valve, Uniblock #1, jog lever, rudder angle indicators and a 3 HP electric motor driven pump set. A model B4 helm pump provides 16 turns hard over to hard over on wheel steering. Jog lever control and autopilot interface is provided by the Uniblock #1 and pump set with a rudder speed of 15 seconds.
